Many thanks are extended to the League Management Committee who donate many hours in administering the league and have great pride in being part of the oldest existing Sunday league within Cheshire and also the oldest Sunday league within the Wirral.
Some of the LMC are only seen by league members at cup finals (on the gate) or league meetings, but all are hard working members who help to provide many teams with the opportunity of playing true grassroots football throughout the district.
Most of them have been players, managers, secretaries, chairmen, referee’s and team supporters within the league and have much experience in all aspects of amateur football.

Hoping for a trouble-free occasion are the four officials, as the highly respected Keith Maddox, Matthew Turner, Steve Turner and Wayne Kinnear officiate, and having provided the league with good service throughout this difficult season, are also wished the very best of luck in this final tie. All four fully understand the highs and lows of such a day and will be urging everyone to abide by the Laws of the Game.
The game will be played to a conclusion today, with the use of penalties if required.

The presentation of the cup and individual awards will take place at the conclusion of the tie. The very best of attention is requested for the presentation formalities. Thank you.

The Magee Cup is the oldest trophy played for in the league and has a fantastic history to it. The trophy has been in existence since the first season of the league in 1963 and today sees both teams hoping to get their name on the honours list and claim this prestigious trophy that is named after one of the early members of the league.

The very first winners were Primventus FC, who ran from the Primrose public house and completed a league double at the first attempt. They won the trophy again in 1966, but Dale Inn had the best run of success when winning the trophy seven times between 1965 and 1972, which included six straight wins between 1967 and 1972. They then won the trophy another six times but under the banner of St Joseph’s FC.

Other sides have also been victories on a number of occasions and they include Mona Castle, the Royal Oak, Poulton Royal, Millhouse, Great Float and The Tower (also known as Queens Tower).

Some of the oldest names on the trophy are Nelson United, Tavern Social, Windsor Perch Rock, Eagle Arms, Wallasey Oval and Oyster Catcher.

The original trophy is now kept in storage and an alternative trophy is awarded to the winners which must be returned to the League Secretary undamaged. However, the winners are also provided with a replica cup which they keep for their trophy cabinet and as a reminder of a successful day. It is believed we are the only league to provide such mementoes.

A man-of-the-match award is also provided on the day as both teams select a member of the opposition to receive the award,

For the first season ever, teams competing in cup finals will receive a monetary reward for their efforts, with the winners and losing finalists having their league fees for next season being reduced. This will also apply to teams winning a divisional award and is meant as an incentive to all teams for future seasons, but multiple awards will not be provided.

The League Management Committee would like to thank the committee of Cammell Laird 1907 FC for allowing us to stage this end of season final and congratulate them on reaching the final of the Cheshire FA Senior Cup Final and two other cup quarter finals. The LMC also wish them every success for all their future plans.
Cammell Laird 1907 are a team playing in the Hallmark Security League and reside in the North West Counties First Division South and in a transitional season have encounter many high’s and low’s, but they are already looking for an improved campaign next season.They have always made every effort to support other teams and local leagues and allow their ground and facilities to be hired for end of season cup finals, which of course the Wallasey & District SFL are eternally grateful.

The League Management Committee wish PLCCFC and Poulton Vics FC the very best of luck and hope they conform to the Laws of the Game during what should be an exciting fixture

POULTON VICS

The season so far;
The Vics have already played in two cup finals and last week took the prestigious Capitol Cup for their trophy cabinet when defeating Second Division champions Halfway House. They are also possible First Division champions and need to win their last fixture versus Upton FC to claim the title. This due to their midweek 2-2 draw with close rivals Nelson FC in a superb fixture that saw both teams providing a nail-biting end to the season.

As well as gaining support from the Poulton Victoria sports and social club they also have a team sponsor in Juel Waste Management and the team and committee are much appreciative of the continued backing of those who work behind the scenes.

Team manager Mike Palliser and team coach Tony Hammond would like to thank all the playing squad for reaching three finals this season, which has been down to hard work and team bonding, as well as top performances in every competition and will be hoping to win the trophy this term after missing out in last seasons final. So, a possible treble is on offer for the Vics if they can take the trophy today along with the Capitol Cup and divisional title.

The Vics will have a mascot today to lead the team out and we all hope young Maisie Williams will enjoy the experience and have good memories of this day and the League Management Committee wish the Vics the very best of luck and hope they conduct themselves in a manner acceptable to all concerned.

PLCCFC
The season so far;
Following their promotion to the First Division as Second Division champions PLCCFC are currently mid-table and have also reached two other competition semi-finals, but saved their best performances to reach this final after beating JASGA PV and Upton FC in exciting fixtures.
The latter being a penalty shoot-out victory in which all of their five spot-kicks were successfully executed with goalkeeper and coach Barrie White making the one crucial save to reach the final.

PLCCFC – whose name derives from the Parkfield Cricket Club - have an all action Captain in George Craven who has netted some vital goals, but their leading scorer is Anton Jolley with a dozen efforts.They are both ably supported by Jason Flaherty, Lewis Toland, Tom Rigby, Brett Fitzsimmons and Sean Woods who are all part of a competent squad aiming for glory today.

Manager Mike Keogh and secretary Ben Charlton will have briefed their players on the need to perform to the highest level to claim this trophy, so it is hoped that a hard-fought encounter will be on display today. They and all the squad would like to thank all the committee for all their hard work during the season and they hope all members will accept an invite back to the cricket club where complimentary food will be served after the final.
