Wirral District Football Association Cups

Report compiled by Tom Potter

In the Wirral DFA Junior cup semi finals the all Wallasey clash of Oxton Celtic and Vittoria Vaults went the way of the latter as they eased home 6-2.

An even fixture for most part, but the finishing of Vaults proved the telling factor as Leon Jones netted a fine hat-trick and Shaun Burgess fired a well taken double, with Paul Greenwood completing the scoring. Bagging the replies for Celtic were Harry Sutton and Tim Hughes.

West Kirby United Whites however fell at the last hurdle and went down 2-0 versus Victoria Colts.

The quarter finals of the Wirral DFA Amateur cup saw JASGA FC romp home versus AFC Shaftesbury with a 5-0 success thanks to two goals from Lee Forsythe and singles from Tom Evans, Callum Morrison and Stuart Speed in a commanding performance and they now meet Belmont in the semi final.

Also through are Poulton Vics following their hard-fought 3-2 victory over Bromborough Rake due to a Ben Dunn brace and a single from Joe Magee to book their semi final spot against Upton Town.

The only loss came for Bromborough Town who led 1-0 thanks to a Jack Cooke effort, but Upton Town fought back to level matters and the game ended 1-1, but the penalty shoot-out resulted in a 3-2 loss, despite goalie Andy Palin saving two spot kicks.

The Wirral DFA will provide all teams with the dates and venues of the semi finals and final once the congested end of season run in becomes clearer.

Well done to our teams who progressed and to whom we wish the best of luck in the remaining games.
