WALLASEY & DISTRICT SUNDAY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
DUTCHMAN CUP FINAL
GREAT FLOAT S&S V SEACOMBE FERRY FC
On Sunday 1st May 2011
At Victoria Park, Poulton
11:00am kick off
Would all spectators please refrain from entering the field of play at all times before, during and after the match.
Alcohol is NOT permitted within the confines of these facilities by order of the Manor FC committee.
On behalf of the League Management committee may I take this opportunity to thank the committee of Manor FC for their co-operation in allowing us to stage this tie and wish them well in all their future ventures!
To-days Final tie sees Division One champions Seacombe Ferry taking on the likely Division Two winners Great Float S&S and promises to be a full blooded and entertaining encounter, as both sides have already tasted cup final defeats in their respective divisional cups and will be wanting to rectify this time around, but obviously, only one team can win!!
Great Float will be hoping to make this a ‘double’ celebration in their first season in the league and will be looking to the likes of James and Thomas Harris, Dave King, Sean Woods, Shaun Parrington and Charlie Booth to provide the impetus for a cup final victory, but all the squad deserve praise for their efforts this term which has seen them leading the way for most of the season.
Seacombe Ferry having already been crowned divisional champions and will also want to achieve a double and show their experienced management team they have the credentials to do it. Players like Andy Triggs, Phil Murray, Neil Sargeant, Tom Freeman and Tony Edge will be working tirelessly in expectation of attaining this fine trophy and make all their hard seasons work come to fruition.
Both sides are wished the very best of luck today and it is hoped that a free flowing, exciting and sporting game ensues in accordance with the laws of the game. Hoping for a trouble free occasion are the third team on view who are the three officials – Dave Edwards, Colin Barnes and Danny Bruce – who have provided plenty of support during this demanding season and who deserve much credit for their dedication and they too are wished the very best of luck in this final tie.
The Dutchman Cup originated many years ago when Eddie Eichelshein, a former referee in the league, donated the trophy and it has a coveted history since its inception. Eddie named the trophy due to his country of birth and also his hardware store which is called the Flying Dutchman Stores.
A man of the match award will be chosen by both clubs for an opposing player and these will be presented at the completion of the Final.
Extra time and penalties will decide this Final tie if required.
All spectators and players are requested to give the very best of order at the conclusion of the tie when the awards will be presented to both clubs and the match officials. Thank you.
