Notification from Tom Potter - League Secretary
Yet again I find myself having to report the sad loss of yet another long standing member of the league.
Kevin Walters donated many years as a player, manager and match official in this league and had a good reputation as a fair and understanding referee.
Kevin played for a number of teams as a goalkeeper and then took up the whistle for the Cheshire CFA and officiated many Saturday and Sunday fixtures at varying levels during his time in the black kit, but his passion for Wallasey football was always to the fore.
Lord Nelson was the last team he managed and they secured back-to-back divisional championships when winning both the 2nd and 1st divisions in successive years, with the 1st division title being claimed on goal difference. They also won the Dutchman Cup Final and reaching the semi final of the Wirral DFA Junior Cup under Kevin's guidance.
Kevin was proud of everything he contributed to the league and his teams which included encouraging his son to enjoy the local soccer scene.
He will be missed by all that knew him and we can only pass on our sincere condolences to all his family and friends at this sad time.
