Report compiled by Tom Potter League Secretary
Yet another weather disrupted fixture list saw the majority of games postponed and causing havoc with the rescheduling of cup games, especially as cup final dates have already been agreed at private venues.
Second Division Cup semi-finals
However, two fixtures did take place and that is thanks to the competing teams for acquiring all weather facilities for both Second Division Cup semi-finals to be completed and both went to penalty shoot-outs.
West Kirby Athletic were leading 3-1 with goals from Matty Pipe, Seb Pierce and Alex Wilson versus Shore Villa, but them hit back with efforts from Sam Range, Connor Hodson and Younis Maghraby to level the tie at 3-3 after ninety minutes. The penalty shoot-out resulted in a 4-3 success for Athletic in a tense end to the game.
The other semi between Shore Villa Athletic and AFC Shore Villa was a very even encounter and ended 1-1 at full time as Jamie Smith netted for AFC and Luis Shirley bagged the response for Athletic and in a nerve-jangling shoot-out AFC edged home with a 5-3 advantage.
Second Division Cup Final
The final will now take place at Cammell Laird 1907 FC on Sunday 26th March with a 11.00am kick off – weather permitting. Good luck to both teams.
