First Division Cup Final - An excellent First Division Cup Final held at Cammell Laird 1907 FC saw an end-to-end battle between PLCCFC and West Kirby Athletic as both teams fought to take the first piece of silverware on offer. Opening exchanges were even, but Athletic opened the scoring in the 10th minute as Gabriel Cooper netted, but as the half wore on a great cross found the head of Luca Murtagh as he glanced home the equaliser in the 35th minute to level the scores at the break.
The second period was frantic with both sides spurning chances, but in the 77th minute James Murray let fly from 25 yards to score a cracking goal and put PLC ahead and they kept the lead through to the final minute to record a hard-earned 2-1 victory. Thanks go to the three officials – Chris Lawson, Steve Dale and Matty Bolton – who had great games. Two players received player of the game awards when being selected by the opposition and they were James Murray (PLCCFC) and Nathan Leyland from Athletic.
Capitol Cup 3rd round - Seventeen goals were recorded in the three Capitol Cup 3rd round fixtures with One O’clock Gun being the high scorers when defeating Second Division high-flyers Shore Villa 8-1, as Morgan Galer-3, Billy Rainbow-2, Jamie Edwards, Carl Navarro and Leighton Clarke netted in a fine team performance, with Kevin Walker scoring the consolation.
A double strike from Alex Clarke and single from Liam Pitt helped Farmers Arms defeat AFC Shore Villa 3-1, whose lone reply came from Jacob Sampson.
Wallasey Wanderers came from two nil down to level matters versus Vineyard in a 2-2 draw that saw Sam Hunt score twice for Vineyard and Jack Neilson and Morgan Catterson reply for Wanderers who won the tie 6-5 on penalties.
MES Ltd First Division - The only fixture in the MES Ltd First Division
Saw Trident take the spoils in a five-goal thriller thanks to efforts from Jake Williams with a double and Jake Adams with a single in reply to goals from Adam Chadwick and Dale Crawford.
Moreton Alarms Supplies Second Division - Barnston FC climbed into third place in the Moreton Alarms Supplies Second Division displacing Shore Villa Athletic following their 4-1 victory, due to goals from Ben Ryan-2, Josh Walters and Jamie Mitchell, with Callum Jones scoring the lone response.
Second Division Cup - The 2nd round fixture in the Second Division Cup saw FC Greasby run riot against below strength Bromborough Athletic as Lewis Seymour netted four times in a 14-1 success.
In the semi-final of the same competition North West Harriers and New Brighton Town battled out a 3-3 draw with Harriers going through to the final after a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory. Normal time scorers were Luke Roberts, Dean Scott and Jamie Hobson for NWH and replying for Town were Alex Lamb-2 and James Carlin in a great game.
