Following a long battle against illness, the leading light behind the Shore Villa football Club, Colin Longshaw has sadly passed way. Colin was the mainstay of the club and all it's teams from junior and youth level to open age and proved to be a rock as he displayed a diligent and caring attitude to every team within the club.He was known as 'Mr Shore Villa' to many that know him, and they admired his commitment to the team which his father began back in 1975 and from whom he took over after his death. Without doubt becoming a beacon of the club and the local community. Colin was a fountain of knowledge for every team member and was respected by everyone who knew him. His association with the Wallasey & District SFL has involved his youth and open age teams, which have had much success since joining and culminated in two of his teams reaching the same cup final for an 'all Shore Villa' experience, which is rare in amateur football, but one he was very proud of. Colin will always be remembered for being a true gentleman and helpful to anyone who needed it, by showing compassion and honesty of the highest level and leadership that helped many young players begin their footballing adventures.
As the league secretary, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to his wife Jean and his son and daughter on behalf of the league and express sincere regret at the loss of such a well respected man and volunteer who donated umpteen years supporting local football within the Wirral and indeed the County of Cheshire.
Colin, your legacy will remain with many for years to come and you will be missed immensely. RIP Colin Longshaw.
